Artemis Goddess of the Moon I rather enshrine you in my heart than let man tramp on you
Ode to Artemis
by R. Hirosue

The Moon waxes on the horizon
Upon the tallest tree
Her shine enchants every person
A golden glow I see

Goddess Leto walks on a long path
She's left the town behind
She has left her home and Hera's wrath
Island Delos for to find

There she gave birth to Artemis
Beget of King God Zeus
Zeus gave her eternal chastity
Her gift was not to lose

She helped Leto with Apollo's birth
Baby midwife of sorts
Goddess of wilderness and childbirth
Nature lovers' rewards

She hunts at night with bow and arrows
Apollo by her side
Her nymphs in a chariot follow
Her company for the ride

Once she was bathing nude in the woods
Actaeon stopped and stared
She changed him to a stag, the food
His own hounds for to share

Although her spirit is untethered
She's sanctuary for all
Come and prostrate yourselves before her
Her boons will not be small
