A dewdrop's tragic journey to the forest floor and the loss of her 'children'.
She is a dewdrop shimmering,
And playing rays of sun.
Balanced upon a leaf of green,
Her fall has just begun.

It is hard to keep together,
While dodging limbs in fright.
Her little children have not grown--
Unlearned is skill of flight!

Small birds and busy squirrels play;
Unnoticed they glide by.
Passing over flowering bush...
Through ivy vines they fly.

Their hold grows weak but none are lost,
And still the dewdrop plummets.
In her sight forms mossy ground
And its mushroom summits.

Ripples disrupt her gleaming face
As farewells are passed 'round.
Her children can finally soar--
They leave without a sound.
