A lament for Beornath, written by his brother , and his brother still grieves for him. |
Yourself – Lament for Beornath (by his brother) Your voice, In the empty air Yourself, In that empty chair Your choice, Not to care Your body, To the empty airs To the winds, Who seem not to care Your soul, To the devil's lair. Hearing your voice, In the empty air, Seeing you, In that empty chair, Wishing you hadn’t chosen, Not to care, You’re gone, To the empty airs, Who seem not to care, And now your soul, Is in the devil’s lair Yourself, walking that empty road, Yourself, carrying that heavy load, Yourself, wishing that you had cared, Wishing you had seen, What could not have been, Wishing you had been, Something more, I see you, Walking that empty road, I see you, Carrying that heavy load, I wish, That you had cared enough, I wish, That you could see, What will be, Now alone, Lost, without a home, You’re gone, So long, My brother, I hope you’re at peace, For I am not, And those you have left behind, Cannot see what the world has lost. Oh brother, don’t you wish you could see? All those things that could be? Don’t you wish you had changed? Don’t you wish that you had lived? Those future times you will never see, Those future things that can never be, The good times to come and the good days of old, All these things, Lost, you will never see, Lost, those things that can never be. All because you could not choose, All because you could not bear to lose, Because you chose that evil path, Because you followed the evil way, You shall be forgotten, From this day. I, your brother, Even I, Must forget, As if you had never been, As if you I had never seen, Your deeds and your legacy will disappear, Your life and yourself, From this day, you do not exist. Yet do not despair, Wherever you may be, For as long as you look forward and your eyes can see, There will be a future for you and me, You I will remember. From this day forward begins a new time, I will live for the two of us, Doing what I must, Righting your wrongs and clearing your name, Wiping clean the slate to begin again. |
