The Knight of the Silver Lance

Set in the 1100s, Book One of “The Knight of the Silver Lance”, centers on the character of Sir Gadahin of Elziver, who is faced with the empty position of greatest champion in Europe after his father dies in a Saracen battle. Bereft of both parents, made a baron at seventeen, and master of immense wealth and lands, Gadahin learns that fame comes to those who do not seek it. After the discovery of the silver weapon that had supposedly vanished long ago, Gadahin is knighted and receives a chance to prove that he is a true paladin, through his skilful strength and gallant chivalry.

My book was influenced by Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe. In total, I have spent five years on it now, beginning with the very basic outline in 1999. My first version had three parts (Adventures, Quest of Revenge, and something about the Crusades); but, while I was saving it to a floppy one morning, it was completely and utterly lost when the floppy showed up blank and a screen flashed up at me, coldly stating that File No.33316 error had just shut down the system. Though at first I showed some concern (a horrified yelp brought the other family members to the computer), I was not at all discouraged. My second version is written more faithfully according to the outline, and is much less verbose and roundabout. Instead, the characters keep moving and the outline is preserved.

In total, there are three parts: Adventures of a Knight, The Seventh Crusade, and Return of the Crown. Currently, I am trying to promote Adventures of A Knight, though my favorite is Return of the Crown. Please review my work and rate honestly!
