This is how i left reality behind ^_^
My bed creaked mournfully as I set my suitcase on it. I looked around my new room the musty smell of dust filled my nose as a sudden wind swept through my open windows dragging my curtains along with it. Crisp sunlight briefly flashed through my room momentarily blinding me. I looked away for a instant rubbing my eyes to try and regain my vision. Turning away from the window a large door in the corner of the room caught my eye. I walked slowly towards it hearing the jubilant sounds of my brothers across the hall as they discovered their own rooms.

The door was huge. It towered above me as I quickly estimated the size to be about ten feet tall. The thick smell of must filled my nose again as I closed the remaining distance between myself and the large wooden portal. I could see the smooth grain of the wood, the lines dark against the tinted wood surface like the creases on the palm of your hand. My hand paused, outstretched, just inches in front of the door’s latch. I felt my curiosity mounting followed closely by a sense of foreboding fear. What if I didn’t like what was behind this door. Could it hurt me? My wonder billowed as I stood posted in front of the colossal passage like a guard standing at attention. Taking a deep breath I finally made contact with the latch closing my eyes as I unlocked the door.

I was met with a shock of bright iridescent light and a brisk breeze. My eyes fluttered as I tried to comprehend what I was seeing. I stood at the gate of an open meadow. Small flowers littered the ground and tall grass swayed in the refreshing breeze. My hair whipped around my face as I gazed at the serene beauty that surrounded me. I glanced behind myself and was reassured with the sight of my room on the other side of the open door sitting just as I left it. My desire to explore the open fields threatened to crush me. I took a step forward to test the tangibility of the ground. The grass crunched softly under my feet. I looked back at my room once more hesitantly and then I was off running without another backwards glance.

That was the day I left reality behind. I found my door. The open passage to a fairytale world. Maybe someday I’ll return to my stuffy room with my well loved suitcase sitting on an old bed. But I doubt it.
