a poem describing a man's transition from heartbroken to whole.

Vaster than an ocean,
My love for you is,
Stronger than steel,
My love is,

Yet like a sheet,
Torn I am in two,
Quicker than a rapid,
I was torn in two,

You left me one day,
Left me in the dark,
All you had to say,
Cut me with words sharp,

I don't know how to say this,
That is what you said,
You're not what I dreamed,
From me then you fled,

Shocked I was for days,
Wishing to see your face,
I began to feel cold,
No longer within love's embrace,

I cried for three nights,
Searching myself,
What had I done wrong?
I never loved anyone else,

I turned to evil,
Deeds to numb,
The pain that was inside me,
I drowned it in rum,

I limped home one day,
After a fight,
I collapsed beside a building,
Something was not right,

I didn't know who I was,
I didn't know who I am,
My head hurt,
As thought swam,

I looked up beside me,
There stood a man,
He knelt down to my level,
Tears in his eyes conformed,

Dear sir? He asked,
what has affected you so?
Took me into shelter he did,
as I limped to and fro,

collapsed once more I did,
onto a wooden bench,
fell asleep at once,
never did I flinch,

in the morning I woke,
I saw four walls,
in a confessional I was,
my head hurt from those falls,

I stepped from the enclosure,
into a bright light,
there was a man there,
the one from the other night,

I asked him where I was,
in the house of the Lord,
His answer was swift,
and I was calmed,

I asked him who he was,
the preacher, he told me,
the preacher, I was shocked,
had helped me,

The Lord helps His sheep,
whether or not they run away,
He cares for His sheep,
wishing to show them The Way,

the Lord, he told me,
called him to return,
to the church he went,
he found me lying there, full of scorn,

The Lord loves all His children,
even if it's not mutual,
the Lord loves me,
just as He does you all.
