At school I got in trouble for talking about anarchism, so i wrote this for my history
Recently I have come under fire for expressing my personal political opinion. I am proud to call myself an Anarchist, as I belive that Anarchism is the most fair, modern, and overall free system of government. In this essay I am going to explain what Anarchism is, what it is not, and what and Anarchist society would look like. I will not talk about "The Revolution", chaos in general, or punk rock as these things are why Anarchism has the view it does today.
Anarchism is by far the single most misrepresented word in the English language. Anarchism comes from the greek words archia meaning command, and the prefix an meaning without. Therefore anarchism can be defined as a political system without a central form of government, authority, and command. The general goal of an anarchist to create a society in which all people are as free as they can be. The only way that that can happen is to remove all forms of authoritry from ones life. Anarchist belive that authority is what holds back all of the human potential and even hinders the movement of society forward. By removing these authorities anarchists belive that they ca create a (for lack of a better term) utopian society. Anarchism is the only political system that accepts all majorities and minorities of opinion, it does not discriminate between race, ethinicity, religion (even though anarchists are primarily atheists they accept all religions), values, or ideas.
Just like other political ideas Anarchism has its opponents. These people often are not fully aware of what anarchism is and what it is not. The most common interpritation of anarchism comes from punk rock. Though these punk rock mucisians may themselves be anarchists, what they are promotingis not anarchism. Anarchists do not want to create pure chaos in the world. It is common for people to think that anarchists simply want eveeryone to start killing each other in the streets with Ak-47s. Another thing that people commonly belive that anarchism is is reverting back to a barbaric state of the past, where only the strong survive, sort of a natural world. This is also completely false, anarchist are out to help people escape form tyranny and wars, not to create tribes of savages. In every way anarchism is the complete opposite of that, anarchism is a modern idea of people living together in harmony living off each other, not a group of wild men in animal pelts running around.
With all this knowledge about anarchism being thrown at you you're probably wondering what exactlyan anarchist society would look like. Most people belive that crime would sky-rocket under an anarchist society which simply would not happen for one reason, money. 90% of crime in the world revolves around money, in an anarchist society wealth is distributed evenly among all the people, so there is no need for crimes involving money. Another 4% of crime comes from children being raised under abusive or neglegent parents. An anarchist society runs under the idea of "It takes a village to raise a child" meaning that in order for a child to be raised right, it takes more than two people to do it. With these factors, an anarchist society in theory would be much safer place to live. In terms of economics most anarchist belive that socialism would be the most use full system to compliment an anarchist society. This would mean that the people would control all of the society's economic issues.
In conclusion, I hope that this essay has changed your opinion on anarchism. Though I doubt that what I want will hppen in the near future, I hope that at least this will have given you some information on the subject. I would like to leave you with this saying "Anarchism is not chaos, it is not rebellion, it is not teenage angst. All that anarchism is freedom, pure and simple."
