Why we look forward to Fridays so much!
YUMMY FRIDAY
July 19, 2005

Following a five-course meal
is a day at the end of the week.

It's not a pot roast or a turkey,
in fact it's not even a meat.

It's the sweet dessert for one's trouble;
it's the icing on the cake;

it's the Jell-o one always has room for;
it's the day it took all week to bake.

Monday, the main course, is not palatable
and Tuesday is just as bland.

Wednesday is only as edible
as Spam or some other canned brand.

Thursday is better, but still no buffet;
the finale is coming, it's just one day away.

The post prandial dish is the highlight
of anyone's hard-working week.

It's the reason behind employment;
the paycheck, the week's only treat.

Savored, each bite is full of
a creamy and tasty whipped cream

or a pudding, a mince, or a jelly
or some other sugarplummed dream.

And then when the plate is totally clean,
and every lick is a winner,

one's finally excused from the banquet table
with an invitation for next week's dinner.
