It's not nice being out of action. In fact, it can be terribly frustrating! Don't give up, though. You'll get there!
This week's Action/Adventure Newsletter is all about goals and obstacles.

Hi everyone,
I’m afraid I am going to have to keep it short this time. Last week I was rushed to the hospital and I ended up having emergency surgery which, unfortunately, had a couple of extra layers of complications, and I nearly didn’t make it...
I’m not certain how I feel about it all. Part of me appears to insist upon living in a daze. Another part of me feels both betrayed and guilty – betrayed by my body turning against me all of a sudden and guilty because I no doubt should have done more to look after my body in the first place. Neither sentiment makes sense, really, but that’s my mind attempting to come to grips with what has happened. To make matters worse, I am likely to require further surgery soon (though if I can avoid it, I will).
With my physical and mental states as they are, then, I believe it’s fair to say that I am currently out of action. I sure would prefer not to be. I am in the final months of my Master’s degree and supposed to be writing my dissertation right now. I am also supposed to be preparing for my wedding, which is scheduled to take place in September. These were meant to be interesting months, happy months... but life isn’t always like that. Sometimes, it has its own plans.
When big obstacles are placed in our path, it is natural to wonder why. Why did this happen to us? What did we do to deserve this? Why can’t things run smoothly for once? Why does there always have to be a struggle? Whatever we tell ourselves in response, all we can do is battle through it and, where possible, remain focussed on our goals.
I will still complete my dissertation and graduate. I will still get married. You, dear reader, will do whatever you have set your heart and mind on doing, regardless of what has rolled onto your way and is hindering your progress.
You are strong. You are creative – if you weren’t, you wouldn’t be here, reading this newsletter. Creative people will always find creative solutions. I believe in you, and I hope you will believe in yourself.
I may be out of action, but I won’t be for long. If you are out of action, that won’t last, either. You are the hero or heroine of your own story. Let’s make it a good one!
