About This Newsletter

Hello everyone, I’m Samberine Everose and I'm here again your guest editor this week in the Contests and Activities of the WDC Newsletter, and just like I've always been saying, I will not be tired in expressing my thankfulness to all the beautiful people here in this wonderful community of writers for not only helping us to improve our writings but giving us also encouragement and inspiration every day. *Smile*

Did you know the old saying:
All work and no play makes Juan a dull boy, I often heard that saying from my teacher when I was still in elementary grade that made me think before that it's better to play than to study. *Laugh*
This saying comes to my senses when I was planning to write a Contest and Activities newsletter which leads me to understand it clearly, so I chose it, to be my theme this week for this newsletter.

Letter from the editor

Play and you will Grow

Before, I don't like sports of any kind, I don't go into a contest or any activity, in other words, I don't have a competitive spirit or a sportive mind but when I begin to join contest online especially here in WdC, there are many things that I learned that made me open my eyes which encourage my competitive soul not only to join but also to create and to host also a contest or an activity.

Here are the things that I've learned when I begin to awake myself to become a little bit competitive.

*BulbB*1.We can overcome our shyness.
I am a typically shy and not a social type of person, but when I've learned to immerse myself to the community, through forums and contest, my shyness and timidity evaporate, that made me think why I am shy in the first place, shyness is a hindrance to learn, to know people and to win friends. Right? So for a few times that I've joined a forum contest, I already overcome my shyness.

*BulbB* 2. It made us to learn new things.
Contest and Activities have different beauties and challenges because the person created them are unique. Each one has its own uniqueness and it always reflects on its work, from a simple doodle drawing to a magnificent painting there is always its own unique and beauty.

*BulbB* 3. It helps us to BIKES.
BIKES stands for Braveness, Information, Knowledge, Endurance and Self Confidence or in other words it develops us to become a brave person, wherein it's not the loss that count but how can we withstand and become sturdy to any failure, to get more Information, to have more knowledge, develops the attitude of endurance and to develop self-confidence.
Did you know that the more challenges we have, the more experience we have, the greater knowledge and information we will know, the greater we develop endurance, the braver we have and the more confident we have?

*BulbB* 4. It gives us fun, enjoyment, entertainment and will keep us in moving.
Are you bored, sad, depress or even happy or glad, Contest and Activities may boost you more and encourage you more to become happy and lively. Why, because contest and activity can give you something to think about, a challenge to make, an activity to create. And when you already have done the challenge or a task you've had accomplished, it unlocks one of the hormones called Dopamine in our brain that make us be happy, we may overcome our laziness, mind idleness as well as procrastination. It will encourage us to keep moving.

*BulbB* 5. We may even win friends even if we don't win the prize.
That is right, contest and activity is a social gathering and we should think that not only the prize that will encourage us but also to know others especially the new ones and win friendship on them too.

Though contests and activities will be composed of different challenges and tasks, we should always think that it's not the prize that count but more on the attitudes that we develop while getting the prize, that will surely will make us grow not only as a writer but most especially a better person.
So just Enter and Play.
*Heart*

Samberine Sig.
