The Great Outdoors

It's summer in the US so naturally people are spending more time outdoors and adventuring to new places on their vacations. I love when my friends post pictures of some fantastic place they've visited and I can have a little visual vacation looking at their shares. I'm a very visual person and love imagining stories that go along with my mini-vacation.

Of course, then the author in me takes that nice thought and gives it that twist...you know the one, the one that takes an innocent day trip and turns it dark, frightening and pretty much the opposite of the word 'vacation'. If you're not following Writing.Com Support Author Icon on your newsfeed, you're missing some fun opportunities to 'what if' yourself right into a new inspiring story. Writing.Com Support Author IconMail Icon *Left*Click that plus sign to change it to favorite or fan to follow them on your newsfeed.

You can check in on the Writing.Com Support Author Icon notebook and post your goals for the week, write a post for Two Word Tuesday or this week, name a little monster. How fun is that? Those little stimuli are what keep the imaginative part of the brain doodling around creating ideas and characters. There's no contest to it, or special deadline, they're just prompts to tickle the brain and keep the juices stirred.

You can do the same on your newsfeed, you can share a landscape photo or picture of something interesting and inspire your friends. (insert internet warning about sharing personal photos and info etc.) Many people are on budgets and can't travel to exotic places, but would love to see them through the eyes of their friends.

This month's question: Do you share your trip photos on the internet? Why or why not? Send in your answer below! *Down* Editors love feedback!

Excerpt: Paige looked through the sunny morning hotel window onto the street. People moved along the sidewalk like they were out of time. Traffic sped, horn's blared, and drivers muscled into already cramped lanes. The muffled voice of a man yelled out of a car window. The words were obscure, but she was sure it wasn't pretty. A pumping fist accompanied harsh clipped words. She hadn't been here twenty-four hours but already longed for her lazy home town.

Excerpt: Susan was jolted awake from her warm and cozy delta wave induced sleep; the standard procedure for passengers on long duration spaceflights. She shoved the shoulder of her husband Roger, and shoved him again, but his snoring didn’t stop. Her eyebrows furrowed over her closed eyes, squinting from the glare coming through the cabin porthole window.

They saved up for the perfect anniversary/vacation. It's not what they got though.
#2086330 by PureSciFiPlus Author IconMail Icon

Excerpt: “Will you please hurry up.” Dyvon was glancing over his shoulder as he continued running down a corridor. Floating at waist level, with several different sized boxes, was a metal table – without its legs. “We already missed one SpaceShuttle. I don’t want to miss another one. Especially since it’s the last one of the day.”

Excerpt: “Brad, once you get in shape, you’ll be ready to show yourself off… on this fantastic vacation in exotic Chile! You’ll spend eight days and seven nights touring around Santiago, to include two days and one night on the mysterious Easter Island! You’ll be staying in the luxurious Grande Marquis Resort and Spa, with air travel and spending money provided. And Brad, all of this can be yours… if the price is right!” Immediately the crowd began shouting numbers at him, ranging from one dollar to one million. He tuned them out and thought about it for a second.
