What I love about April is that spring is in full bloom. Fresh cut grass and fragrant flowers tease the senses. It's a busy month, so I thought I'd share a 'hodge podge' of some of my favorite spring romances.

One of my favorite type of nuts is the pecan, so I thought I'd share my admiration with you. You'd think November would be National Pecan Month since pecan pies are a staple at Thanksgiving, but April gets the honor.
Pecans are natural helpers. They're high in antioxidants, reduce the risk of heart disease, lowers cholesterol, is high in protein, and contains over 19 vitamins and minerals. What's not to love? Here's some fun pecan facts:
*The USA provides 80% of he world's crop!
* 2 pecans provide 10% of the daily recommended value of zinc.
* Rich in Vitamin E.
But you ask, "Steph, how do I party with pecans?"
Let me give you some suggestions: Throw them along with some apples in a salad. Bake a pie and and decorate with some whipped cream. Sprinkle them in with baked beans.

One of my favorite Disney's romances is "Beauty and the Beast." Just recently, Disney released the live action movie with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. For me, this was one of the rare movies that was worthy of a 2nd visit to the theatre.
The story was originally written by Gabielle-Suzanne deVilleneuve in 1740! It's believed the intent was to prepare young women for arranged marriages, however it might have also been reflective of the changing social values and mores in France. In 1756, Villeneuve's version was shortened, revised, and published a 2nd time by Jeanne-Marie Beaumont. Beaumont left a lot of stuff out. Some interesting facts:
* The heroine is 1 out of 6 children belonging to a merchant.
* The merchant gets lost in a storm and finds the Beast's castle. He picks a rose and Beast bargains with him. The Beast lets the merchant keep the rose, but he must send the Beast one of his daughters. The merchant sends Beauty.
*Villeneuve wrote an extensive back story for Beauty and Beast, but Beaumont omitted it.
*One element in every version of the story is that true Beauty is found within.

It's national poetry month! I'm a sucker for a romantic poem. A Kyrielle is a medieval French poem. The name comes from Kyrie Elision, which is a church litugy. In the Kyrie Elision, there is a repeated refrain. In a Kyrielle, the style involves using rhyming couplets with 8 syllables on a line. Structures vary, but there is always a repeated refrain.
Here's a Kyrielle I recently wrote:
Next to the River
September is a lonely time,
Hills to challenge, mountains to climb.
Wicked smile brief, yet clever,
Heart pounding next to the river.
A tender touch, a furtive glance,
Dare's hope in October's dance.
What to give for gold and silver?
Heart pounding next to the river.
Come closer, eyes only for you,
November's storms paint a dark hue.
Breath hard and fast, cold, and winter.
Heart pounding next to the river.
CHALLENGE Write a Kyrielle about Beauty and the Beast. All poems will be featured in a future Romance/Love Newsletter.

Feedback from my Romance/Love Newsletter DTD: 29 MAR 2017

I am happy to see "When the Music Fades" plugged in this NL. It's one of my all time favorite pieces on the site.
Princess Megan Snow Rose
I love "Titanic." It is my favorite movie outside of the "Twilight" Saga. Eric Braden who plays on "Young and the Restless" was perfect as John Astor. The Jack and Rose story was beautiful. I have seen the movie 110 times and I still cry. I was so upset thinking about the real Titanic and this movie touched my heart. I don't think I could watch my husband go down with the ship. I would probably have stayed with him. I would have stayed with him. There should have been enough life boats for everyone. I really enjoyed this newsletter and now I want to watch "Titanic" again.
BIG BAD WOLF is Howling
Well, let's put it this way; your wife is pregnant with your child - you make sure she gets to safety, if nothing else.

To answer your question, the Titanic story is filled with plots. I read Murder on the Titanic. A great book. Even though we know the ship sank, some were saved and the stories that can be made from that are endless. Romance, Murder, quests, all aboard a ship with a time limit to overcome. The What If's are unlimited.
I agree! The "what ifs" are unlimited. Perhaps that's what makes the Titanic a compelling story even today?
Monty
A history lesson that I found interesting and had never heard of.
Ditto for me, so I was compelled to share.
StephBee is a 911 Dispatcher for LAPD. Her vintage summer romance, "Journey of the Heart" is 99 cents on Amazon. Can James help save Rachel's winery after World War II? It's with a sad heart that I report that Victory Tales Press will be going out of the business in OCT 2017. Several of my 99 cent stories are with them on Amazon including "Journey of the Heart," which I highly recommend.
