About This Newsletter

When is a legend legend? Why is a myth a myth? How old and disused must a fact be for it to be relegated to the category “Fairy-tale”? And why do certain facts remain incontrovertible while others lose their validity to assume a shabby, unstable character?

Confronting A Dragon

While the dangers of suffering from bites, burns, slashes from claws, death-by-constriction, tail lashings, venom attacks, and so forth should never be underestimated, the lesser danger of hypnosis by a dragon is often ignored. The mechanism for this is little understood, but it seems to occur in a similar way to that seen when a snake hypnotizes a frog.

Dragons can hypnotize large groups of individuals at one time, and the effects may last for some months, with the hypnotized person often found apparently carrying on their everyday life.

The signs are easy to read: an obsession with dragons, wizards, fairies, or tales of other worlds; a mad delight in fantastic illustrations and ideas; a dislike of human rules or authorities. Luckily, there is a tried and trusted method that may be used as a sure remedy:

*Bullet*A person who has been hypnotized by a dragon should be made to do a large number of complicated mathematical sums.

*Bullet* All books on dragons, wizards, or suchlike should be confiscated, and books on stimulating topics—politics, economic theory, the history of benzene in the manufacturing industries, etc.—should be substituted.

*Bullet* Exhortations to the person to “snap out of it” or to “stop living in cloud-cuckoo land” are rarely successful.

Oh, great…now I’ve been hypnotized by a dragon—what next?

Hey Loved the Newsletter. Took a break from legal studies to read. Yep, and it was the newsletter, that caught my eye. Tired of reading disproportionate, commision, continuance, section blah blah blah. My brains frying. Your newsletter gave me strength to continue on, for there's light at the end of the tunnel and its called exams. Thanks for the break.
