Long
before
there are any
Christmas presents to
be found -- or hanging on
the door a festive wreath for you
to see; preceding any mouth-watering
foods or fancy decorations all around -- there
must at first come the Wondrous Christmas Tree.
Standing so majestically from the floor up to the roof.
Quite perfectly hand-picked and just as nearly childproof. The
smell is more than pine -- it’s more like fresh snow-covered woods.
Filled with anxious anticipation, the culmination of childhood. But if that’s not
quite enough -- strings of electric brilliance are wrapped ‘round and ‘round.
Ornaments and candy canes keep children exquisitely spellbound. And up upon
the very top an angel sits so daintily -- watching over
everyone and
the Wondrous
Christmas Tree.

Do You Believe?
I'm such a sap for Christmas.
I mean it, all the songs, the lights, the decorations; the whole thing just fills me with a jittery kind of excitement and joy.
Do you know what I mean?
Sure, there's all the hustle and bustle that goes on, but beneath that is this underlying current of Peace On Earth and Good Will Toward Man. (I told you I was a sap.)
You see, that's what gets me through all the materialistic marketing bull-crap out there. I am filled with this calm I just don't get at any other time of year. I know they've raped the meaning of Christmas, I know that they've turned it into a BUY BUY BUY kind of holiday, but even knowing that, this feeling I get tells me, "It's all right. It's okay. As long as YOU believe."
And I do. I do believe in Christmas. And I always will.
Now I'm getting up there in age, but still, I feel like a kid at Christmas Time.
Is that normal?
I don't know, and I don't care. It's just the way I feel.
So, if you start getting overwhelmed, hurried, and anxious, just search out your inner feelings for peace and joy. I tell you it's like magic and it really works.
Heck, the next thing you know, you'll be smiling at all the little things that always seem to go wrong when we try too hard to please everybody. YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYBODY PEOPLE.
We're not supposed to. We're supposed to just FEEL IT.
Feel the joy and happiness of family and good friends. Then, and only then, will you survive the holidays.
Become a kid again, feel the magic, and Believe.
Until next time,
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT

DEAD LETTERS
Quick-Quill
In the city of S. St. Paul there lived a large turkey(over 3' from head to ground). As my daughter walked past the house the turkey came along its side and gave her the eye. It began to move toward her and she walked faster. It picked up its pace, and so did she. When she got to the edge of the property she took off running and it did too. It stopped at the edge of the sidewalk. No fence. She didn't look back. She had to return the same route but walked on the opposite side of the street. The turkey watched her as she passed by the property, strutting and gobbling, its feathers spread out. Now my daughter isn't thin by any means. We laugh that it may have thought her a hen. She eats turkey in revenge now. True story
