A Look Back at the 2012 Newbies

*BabyBoy* At some point, we were all newbies on Writing.Com. *BabyGirl*

*Toy* We took first tentative steps around the site, marveling at the writing, the reviewing, the many activities. *Teddy*

*Glasses* Some of us started by mostly reviewing. *Reading*

*Books3* Some of us kept to mostly writing. *Books1*

*Bird* And some simply took off and became a new generation of highly visible, highly active members who run contests, offer auctions and raffles to the community. *Plane*

*StarB* *StarBl* *StarBr* *StarG* *stargray* *StarO* *StarP* *StarR* *StarV* *StarW* *StarY*

This is my first contests and activities newsletter of 2013, and I want to use it to celebrate those members who joined the site in 2012 and are creating, running, and maintaining contests and activities for the whole Writing.Com community to enjoy.

A secondary account doesn't really count for newbie, but it's an account made in 2012, and it's got an activity for you.

The member who started this group is not a newbie, but the group is a new item for 2013, and I think many members on the site can benefit from it, so I included it here.

My pleasure! *Bigsmile*

Tina M. Courtney Author Icon wrote: This contest is my first contest I've hosted. It has gone off with success and at the end of it I have been proud. The contest was named previously Halloween, Thanksgiving, and now Christmas. It changes name for what ever the next season each month. Same item and corresponds with the Season Theme Group so we keep the same members. The best group out there is The Power Reviewer Group. They will help with you with technical question and are quick to respond. The Captains are super supportive and the leader love each and every member. "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window.

Yes, I've seen this contest around, and I think you're giving the community as a whole a great service with it. *Thumbsupl*

It's a big small world and Writing.Com helps us make it more cozy through members such as you. *Earth*

BIG BAD WOLF is Howling Author Icon wrote: I'll be honest, running a contest can be tricky. This is why I have a Minimal of Five entries before I give out my 10K Awardicon to the one I like the most- and Spelling and Grammar play a part in my choosing, along with the story itself. Asking for a minimum number of entrants is a reasonable request. It's got to be a contest after all. *RibbonO*
