Horror Has A Birthday

Horror was born way before I was. But if I recall, it got its roots back in ancient folklore with scary stories of demons, witches, ghosts and whatnot, and then took off in the 18th century as Gothic Horror.

I suppose if Horror had a birthday, it'd probably be on Halloween, but for me it's, Monday, the 25th of July. So about the time you receive this newsletter, I'll be 2 days older than 60 *Shock*.

Yep, it's my birthday! "Yay!" *Cakep*

Now, I realize as I grow older, that I have the choice to either celebrate my birthday or to ignore it. I always choose to celebrate it. Why? Because I really feel 30 but still look, as Billy Crystal would say, 'absolutely marvelous' *Laugh*.

Although twice the age of 30, I have kept young by having a good sense of humor and by accepting the belief that life is full of sarcasm and irony, and is never to be taken seriously.

I suppose I should be in a mood, dwell upon how I'll face my 'little death' or thinking of how to 'save my soul', but I find all that depressing. My thought is to go out with as much enthusiasm as I kept while alive.

I guess I could rethink this, become serious, but I am not a serious person, in fact, I am probably the least serious person you will ever meet.

That doesn't mean I don't have serious thoughts, or take my relationships serious, because I do. I am the best friend you will ever have, and the most emotional lover you will ever enjoy, but when I look at myself in the mirror, I just gotta laugh. Why do I still feel like I'm going to live forever?

It's true! Even though my life has past in a blink of an eye, I've always chosen to keep the other eye open, watching, looking for the humor in every situation, because it's always there.

So, one of these days, when you see my suitcase portfolio turned to white, know that I went out laughing. Do not cry for me Argentina (or any other place you happen to live in) because I will be having fun. I will be laughing up a storm at all of you down here still trying to figure it out. I will be who I am.

Other than that, I guess I've got nothing meaningful to say about the subject.

So, party down, dude!

Happy Birthday to me *Bigsmile*, billwilcox

Thanks for the double treat of two stories, one from you and one from your daughter. The picture of all four of your daughters is adorable! I assume the author's a bit older than she is in the picture. Either way, she's on her way to being as great a writer as her daddy. *Smile*

Interesting storyline, Asylym.
I have had my own personal experiences around people who said I needed 'help' which led me to stay in board-n-care homes for about a year or so in my younger years of my life. In the process of that stay, I watched, listened, and learned a great deal and only laughed my head off to know that what humans do are truly way more insane comparing myself to them; their choices, conversational pieces, etc. To this very day I still wonder if my family would take time to really find out why I was such a mess to begin with(it had everything to do with my relationship from my father, a church I attended and a love affair that went sour; life was never the same or found to be good for me ever since.) I was away from my home for about 6 years and attended years of college and study, yet still retrospecting my past to this very day, I write about it as I too continue to critically analyze, as they have done to me to find out who the true crazies to insaneones actually are in disguise. There are lots of untold stories when it comes to truths versus the lies.
