About This Newsletter

The lesson I learned from hosting the last contest was that having to hunt for the rules and regulations was too much trouble for entrants. I felt that having the rules listed in the newsletter would keep entrants coming back to reference the newsletter. The problem with this was that there were no rules listed at the contest site so there was only one member who completed the task of entering. Now that may not be the only reason there was only one entry, but to me that seems to be the main reason. That being said, here is the winner for the "Invalid Item"  Open in new Window. by A Guest Visitor

~Random Read~
Have you ever wanted to review someone who was currently online and was not sure how to go about that? Have you ever wanted to just randomly give a review? The Random Read button on the left hand side of the screen that looks like the #5 dice is the Random Read button. Each time you select that, it will bring up an item of a person who is currently online. It selects these items randomly. I have found this is a handy tool to use. How fun is it to get a review while I am online and be able to respond to the person while they too are online?

~Activities Page~
If you have an activity you would like to advertise or are in need of participants, the activities page is a wonderful place for posting this item without spamming anyone. Keeping in mind there is a separate page for contests. This page is designed to help with getting the word out to those in search of group activities. This place hasn't been used as much as it has been in the past. There was a time that in a 30 day period I would have to update my posts at least twice to keep them on the board, since you can only have them listed once on the board at a time. When they drop off you can re-list them. Cycling through 50 posts and allowed three different posts at a time, they tend to disappear quite quickly, or at least they use to. Now it seems the board isn't used as much as it could be. I have to hunt more and more to find activities I am looking for. So remember, if you are hosting an activity, or fundraiser, plug it at the "Activities @ Writing.ComOpen in new Window..

~Contest Page~
Lets host a contest! How do we drum up business? We go to the Contest Page and leave a submission. Be sure to include a detailed post about the contest, including the opening and ending dates. This will allow members to easily find your contest so that if they forget to mark it in their favorites they can come back to it before the deadline and enter.

~Plug Page~
Looking to plug anything other than an activity or contest, whether it be an in and out, a mad-lib, something you wished reviewed or merely something you just want read, this is the place to put it. Shameless Plug Page. There is no shame in posting it here! This is where we go to search out members wishing for specific items to be reviewed.

In summary, maximize the special layout of this wonderful sight and use the pages created so as not to spam others. Pages have been created for you to post in order to gain maximum exposure to your items. Utilizing these pages will help you to gain the exposure you are searching for.
