Poetry About Writing

Many of the writers on Writing.com are knee-deep into NaNoWriMo, so today I thought I'd focus on poetry about writing.

Just as we write about the trials and tribulations we witness, we also write of the writing woes we experience.

--Writer's block.
--Choosing the perfect word.
--Writing tight.

On the flip side just as we make note of the joys we experience, we write about the joys of writing.

--Writing contest win.
--Getting your work published.
--Getting paid to be published.

Invariably the forms these writings take are poetic.

Put your pen (or keyboard) to the side for just a moment, and take a break.

Today we will remember that we walk a common road.

Comment: I may be ready to enter a poetry contest the next time there is one. I will put it out there for critiquing. (I have always been nervous about that).

I understand. It's one of the hardest things about being a writer. I finally had to come to the conclusion that I wasn't going to get any better if I didn't open myself to constructive criticism. Unfortunately, criticism comes in both constructive and destructive forms. The trick is knowing which form you're getting when it comes to you.

Comment: Thank you for sharing your favorite books about poetry with us. It makes me feel smart when I see one listed that I have and use. And it makes me want to go out and buy the others to learn more. Even though I don't write poetry, I find it an extremely helpful genre to study. Poetry helps enrich my writing with deeper themes and literary devices. Thanks, Sallie

Thank YOU for sharing how the newsletter and poetry helps you as a writer *Delight*

Comment: Great newsletter. I will refer to it next time I'm buying a poetry book. I already have `The Teachers & Writers Handbook of Poetic Forms' and it is a great resource. Thanks!

Thank you for saying so *Smile* As I am sure I've said many times and will say many more in the future--lol, that is one of my favorites! I'm glad to hear it's on other shelves besides my own *Bigsmile*

Comment: Finally! Thank you so much, this is exactly what I have been (unsuccessfully) looking for - poetry resources suggestions. Now I just want to know where to find these books to purchase - Amazon? Now I'm off to hunt them down. Linzzy Jane

Amazon is where I got them, but I am sure your favorite online bookseller carries them, also *Smile*
