So let's speak of one little scare I think will keep you on your toes...drumroll...... Werewolf!! or Lycan TA DAAA!
Ok yeah I know, Haha!!! Frightening, yup! I'm not speaking of the sensitive, heartwarming ones from Twilight. There is a new movie coming out, Wolfman in threaters Feb 12th, starring .. and well I think it is a must see for sure. It is a remake of a favorite classic movie of mine too! and always look back into WDC archives for wonderfully edited past newsletters, that reach out and touch the horror of Werewolves.
Werewolf, (Lycanthrope) is a mythical or folkloric human with the ability to change into a wolf like creatures by the light of a full moon. This change is most often from being bitten from another werewolf and as movies and books often portray it is a very painful experience. They have superhuman strength and speed, and the animal savage instinct be a horrific threat. The appearance of a werewolf varies greatly from culture to culture, but have one similar trait that makes them different from ordinary wolves in that werewolves do not have a tail. {e:surprise)
Two types of Werewolves
Fennoscandian said to be old women who possess poison coated claws and the ability to paralize cattle and children with their gaze.
Serbian congratate during the winter months, rip their skins from their bodies and hang them from trees. A attempt to rid the curse.
Becoming a werewolf
... Almost comical. {e:wink}
Being bitten or scratched by another werewolf.
Drinking rainwater from a footprint of a werewolf.
On a certain wednesday or friday, one could turn to a werewolf if they slept outside under a full moon. .............
Witches could make salves that when rubbed on someone would transform them into a werewolf.
It is and was thought that the curse of a werewolf was divine intervention, so speak the hand of the devil resting on their soul, also believed that one suffering form epilepsy and born during a full moon was a werewolf.
The only widespread known weapon to werewolves is a silver bullet. Silver tipped weapon such a spears and knives are also used. Stephen King's classic book "Cycle of the Werewolf" portrayed the silver bullet and the widely popular first film "A Werewolf in London" (1935 ) In some fiction, the power of the werewolf extends to human form, such as invulnerability, super-human speed and strength and falling on their feet from high falls. Also aggressiveness and animalistic urges may be harder to control (hunger, sexual harassment). Usually in these cases the abilities are diminished in human form. In other fictions it can even be cured by medicine men or even antidotes.
A good book or movie featuring a fearsome werewolf is not easily forgetten or deep restful sleep not does come often again.. ...ies...
