Happy November!
If' you're like me, you're just starting your 50,000 word novel in the craziness that is NaNoWriMo. If you're not like me (and thousands of others), you may be wondering what to do with your free time while the rest of us are distracted by our novels. Feedback from my last two newsletters
Have you ever suddenly lost your internet connection? How did you cope? How did you handle contest duties?
This is great information for those running contests and activities, but also for those competing, donating auction/raffle packages, or for those heavily involved in groups or classes/workshops. You summed the main solution up perfectly for all active WDC members -- communicate with other members so it never appears that you are letting your commitments fall by the wayside. Great advice! Glad you have your laptop back!! ~ NickiD89
Thanks, and I'm very glad to have my laptop back and running!
Yes,Spidey, I have. I went to my MIL to get done what I had to do, but it was tough. Thankfully though it never interfered with contest duties. Sometimes RL interferes, but I do my best to get to the contest as soon as I can and I always try to post a notice if I'm going to be late with judging. ~ StephBee
Thanks for the feedback, and that's great advice!
How do you notify winners of your contests? As a participant, how would you prefer to be notified?
Hi Spidey! Great NL. When I host a contest, first I notify each winner by private email, then I award the ribbons, and lastly I post a message in the contest forum. I like posting the winners last because that way all the winners' ribbons are already in place. I like the idea of sending c-notes to winners and I've put your collection in my favorites. Thanks!!
. ~ NickiD89
Thanks, and that's a good & thorough way to notify winners and participants!
I agree with all the methods for notifying winners, but I especially like maintaining a static item to keep record of previous winners. It's great for all the reasons you listed as well as showing entrants that you care about the work that is submitted for the contest. ~ sarahreed
That's a great point!
Spidey, I loved the idea of sending cnotes to let the winners know they've won. I've bookmarked your link! ~ StephBee
Thanks!!
