Letter from the editor

The Farewell
~~By Manuel Castro

Goodbye
In every life
there comes a time
for giving thanks
and to say goodbye.

Even though you may
be miles apart,
your memories will keep you
close at heart.

So don’t be disheartened
at the thought of distance
that can’t remove the memories;
your heart’s closest treasures.

May you be blessed
in all that you do,
and may you experience
lots of happiness too!

Goodbye for the moment
’till we meet again.
May our friendship be a treasure
that will never end.

___________

A friend is like a flower,
a rose to be exact,
Or maybe like a brand new gate
that never comes unlatched.
A friend is like an owl,
both beautiful and wise.
Or perhaps a friend is like a ghost,
whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like a heart that goes
strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world
if we didn't have a friend.
~By Emma Guest

___________

Saying goodbye is often disheartening. But there are times when friends who have traveled a path together must part, not for negative reasons, but because this is the nature of life. The time has come for me to depart Writing.com and bid friends farewell. The reasons I am departing are mostly health and family. I will miss Writing.com, but I know the time is right for me to leave. I am thankful for StoryMaster; he has been very good to me in my time at Writing.com.

As I leave, I want to encourage each of you to continually spread your wings, fly new skylines, and improve your poetry skills. For those who have been my mentors, for those who have allowed me to be a mentor, and for those who have been my peers, I thank you for the experience. I have learned much from each one of you. It has been a great journey. But now, life points me to another journey - to another road less-traveled.

Take care my friends. If anyone would like to stay in contact, I have an account on Facebook - Larry Ray Powers.

Keep writing poetry - for it runs through your veins, beats in your heart, and whispers gently in the night. Listen, and you will hear it.

Larry Powers
