The End

Just this last Friday I was thrilled to place the final full stop on my novel. the product of almost two and a half years of work, I felt nothing short of ecstatic. My first, fully complete, 75,000 word novel! My husband and I celebrated that night with great food and wine, but I was too wired to get much sleep that night. My mind, not content with a finished project, began planning more storylines. *Laugh*

So...what I wanted to say this month, is...Don't give up!

A writer's life can be full of frustrations. Whether it is a sticking point in the plot you can't seem to work out or get past, or lacking the time to dedicate to your passion, frustrations are looming to distract you from achieving your goals. I had many frustrations over those 2.5 years, including my own procrastination. I passionately adore being a writer and am grateful to have the ability to be able to do it every day, all day, but sometimes things just seem to stagnate. I promise, though, the feeling of completion is well worth the effort of pressing on.

Writing.com provides a great avenue for those needing a little encouragement to keep pursuing their writing goals. Here are some ideas ~

*Note3* Need to kickstart the brain?
- enter a short contest
- check out some of the items where people have provided writing prompts (use the Power Search).

*Note3* Want support from people undergoing the same process and/or issues?
- Search the forums and groups for one that fits your needs. Use the Power Search to refine choices or just browse the lists from the links at the top of the page, and see what pops out.
- Set up your own group (Upgraded Membership or above required)

*Note3* Want to test out your ideas?
- Create a survey to gauge people's opinions and interest.
- Create a poll for simple 'most preferred choice' research.

*Note3* Need some editing advice?
- Offer gift point rewards for reviewing.
- Join a specific group that does reviews in return for reviews.
- Add your item to The Plug Page

*Note3* Feel like shouting your accomplishment out to everyone?
- Change your handle to include the news (see mine *Wink*)
- Buy a personalised graphic from someone's signature shop or make one yourself (Upgraded Membership or above required).
- Create a static item about it.
- Make a note of it in your Portfolio Bio.

*Note3* Want to publicise your newly published work?
- Find someone willing to do a product review.
- Create a static item that provides a teaser and information on where to get the book/story.

We all struggle from time to time. Everyone needs encouragement and some help. Most of all, we can find it very difficult to contain our excitement. So go ahead, share your highs, lows, successes, and failures with a community who knows exactly where you're coming from. *Delight* *Bigsmile*

Thanks for reading.

*Note4* Though I've not been a newbie for sometime, I've just recently stumbled upon product reviews. I think it's a great aspect of this site, plus it gives WDC members the opportunity to see what some of their favorite authors here from the site are into. Thanks for mentioning it in your newsletter!

*Note4* Dear Puditat,
This newsletter is great! I really look forward to receiving it, and there's something new for me to learn every time!
Having fun!

I'm glad you enjoy the newsletters. The editorial team put a lot of work into them.

*Note4* Puditat,
I'm so glad you covered this topic. As a librarian who orders tons of books, I'm constantly reading reviews before I make the decision to order them. The more sources, the better. I don't know why I never thought about looking in our own WDC community, but I do plan on it now! And how fun to write our own product reviews! Thanks so much for highlighting an area that possibly gets overlooked by many of us. *Bigsmile* Great issue!

*Laugh* Glad I could prompt you to look within this site. Thank you for the comments. *Heart*

*Note4* This is a helpful newsletter, so thank you *Smile*

I have a question. How do you save graphics that someone has sent in the e-mail, and how do you then incorporate them into a review or piece of work?

Thank you in advance for any help.
PeacefulWmn9 Author Icon

First...you are welcome. *Wink* As to your question, I assume you mean a signature or graphic either purchased or gifted to you. You must have an Upgraded (or higher) membership in order to use images. You save them to your portfolio as an image (one of the options listed on the 'Write' page), and then link them in forums, emails etc using the {image:xxxxxx} tag. That's a brief run down, but if you need further help, please email me. I'm more than happy to help.

*Note4* Awesome Newsletter, even for the seasoned WDC members can learn from this! I am definitely saveing this one to help me out with doing the product reviews!!! Thanks again!!

Wow, and that is a great way to end this section of the newsletter. Thank you. *Delight*
