Letter from the editor

What can your New Year be built upon?

It is the first day of 2025, and I am so glad that my first task is to write an article for writing.com.
I feel a bit nostalgic today, reminiscing about 2024 and thinking of some old lucky beliefs while feeling hopeful about this year.

I believe 2024 was one of my best years because there was so much to be thankful for, and I hope that 2025 will be just as lucky, and that the years ahead will continue this trend.

I'm curious if you have any traditional beliefs you observe to welcome the new year.
I would like to share some of my beliefs that I believe it may contribute to our success each year:

*Tackr* 1. The plants we place at our front door- serve not only for decoration but can also attract positive energy. Like humans, plants are living beings created by God, and there is a symbiosis between plants and people. By placing vibrant and flowering plants at our entrance, we may invite good things into our lives.

I have experienced this myself. I placed a Mother of Thousands plant in front of our gate, and I thanked God that the year 2024 has been bountiful for us.

*Tackr* 2. The furniture that we positioned in our main door- I positioned the furniture in front of our main entrance door. Previously, there was a mirror placed in front of the door leading into our living room. I changed the position of the mirror this past year because I believed it was reflecting back any good fortune for us in our home. Since making that change, the past year has been successful for my family and me.

*Tackr* 3. We always prepare meals to celebrate special occasions. It's not about the extravagance or simplicity of the dishes; what matters is that we put in the effort to create something, even if it's a simple meal. In Filipino culture, many people prepare 13 fruits to welcome the New Year. While some believe this practice has pagan roots, others simply enjoy it as part of the celebration. In our family, we prepare meals to express our gratitude to God for the past year and to welcome the new year ahead.

*Tackr* 4. The thoughts we entertain. It is essential to understand that when we entertain positive thoughts, we can attract positive energy. The brain has the ability to produce chemicals that promote feelings of happiness, especially when we enhance those feelings through uplifting words. This concept aligns with the biblical verse stating that God created humans in His own image and likeness, suggesting that we are inherently good. By focusing on this truth, our brains can release those happiness-inducing chemicals, leading to a sense of joy as we acknowledge the goodness within each of us.

*Tackr* 5. Cleansing through our prayers. I don’t know if you’ve heard this before, but we have the power to cleanse the negative energy that surrounds us through prayer and by speaking positive words to ourselves and others. I base this belief on some verses from the Bible,(Genesis 1:3)(Ephesians 4:29)(Proverbs 18:21)(Mark 11:23), and I know that the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ practiced this as well. Many people with strong faith also embrace this idea.

I can personally testify to its truth. There were many times this past year when I declared the goodness and healing power of the Lord over my child in times when she was sick. Miraculously, she recovered. It is truly the result of faith-filled prayer and God truly hears our prayers. I am grateful to Almighty God for proving that there are no conditions attached to the benefits and privileges we receive as His children.

Even though we live in different countries and have diverse beliefs about the new year that may influence our journeys throughout the year, we must always remember that the foundation of everything is what we Believe. If we hold strong beliefs, we can foster a strong will. However, it's essential to ensure that our beliefs are rooted in a solid foundation, one that can withstand whatever challenges may come our way, and Love is still the best foundation that we can hold onto, that may bring completeness to us throughout the year.

May your New Year be filled with happiness, a bountiful, successful, and healthy one!
Happy New Year everyone! *Heart*
