Hello and welcome to my last Horror NL as an official editor. It has been a pleasure to entertain you this previous year! You might see me pop up here and there but not steadily.

As for this newsletter I decided to write about paranoia and how we deal with it. Or do we? Sometimes it's easier to shove it under the rug in hopes that we won't remember any of it. Getting rid of that unexplained fear is almost a must but for some it's impossible to squash it completely.

Women have that problem a lot. Oftentimes we spend so much time in our heads that the paranoia blurs the line of what reality is. You know what I'm talking about. It's not intuition in this case. It's just our mind playing tricks on us and creating every miserable scenario possible, anything that could go wrong, and everything in between.

If positive thinking manifests positivity in our lives, then paranoia is the complete opposite of that and yes, you can even manifest those scenarios you thought are only happening in your pretty little head. On some level, I think women are masters of being paranoid - can never be too cautious, can we? We need to be prepared for every outcome possible! Be that as it may, it's never something good when we do that.

I have to say I'm very guilty of that and try my hardest to stay out of my head - lots of dangerous alleys in there! - but I'm not always successful. It's a dark rabbit hole where no one should ever set foot in. I cannot be the only one who things and feels this way, right? There's got to be someone who understands what I mean.

What I did learn is that being paranoid and fearing something, not wanting it to come true, will definitely manifest it. Instead, I go with the flow, deal with things as they come, and spend as little time in my head as I can.

As a writer, it's an amazing place to be in. Strolling down the dark roads with paranoia right next to you can create such mesmerizing stories you might not have dreamed of otherwise. Do writers struggle with it after the writing is over? I doubt it. We all have darkness within us. It only matters how we use it. These aren't your deepest and darkest secrets but something altogether different. The opposite of you, if you will. A menace.
