Set Yourself Up For Success

Benjamin Franklin knew a lot about success against adversity.
The most important elements of success in most aspects of life are planning and rehearsing. No matter what we do in life, when things don't go as expected, we will fall to the level of our training. In other words, there is a bottom level of skills and coping mechanisms that each of us has that we sink to when something rocks the boat. The more a situation is planned out and the easier we made it for ourselves to have a framework to hold on to, the easier it will be to recover from unexpected setbacks and get back on the horse.

We can apply this same thinking toward our creative pursuits.
Just for a moment, don't think of planning as the opposite of pantsing. We're not discussing any one piece of writing. We're looking ahead at all of 2024 and starting to formulate a plan on how to make the most out of it in creative terms.

In January, you will have the opportunity to create your own master-list of Writing.Com and whole life goals right here on the site: "Dear Me: Official WDC ContestOpen in new Window..

Are you looking to get involved in more contests, blogging events, and prompted writing activities while also honing your reviewing game? Come and check out "I Write in 2024Open in new Window.. This issue is going to be epic with three brand new badges and a total of 15 exclusive badges.

Worried you won't find enough contests on your own? Let someone else curate a list for you and get rewarded with exclusive and general merit badges "The Contest ChallengeOpen in new Window..

Writing and reviewing are both great things to do, but you're looking for support in other life goals. That's why you're going to join in the fun at "Habit Heroes Open in new Window., which has 10 exclusive merit badges to dole out for no better reason than that you tried your best.

No matter how much or how little you want to write in 2024, be sure to check out "Writing Contests @ Writing.ComOpen in new Window. and "Activities @ Writing.ComOpen in new Window. regularly to stay up to date on all the fun things to do here.

But before you get lost in 2024, have some seasonal fun in December as a Secret Santa.
