Facing Challenges

We don't always face sweet and smooth path in our real-life journey, there are always challenges that will make us become better.

Even in our writing path, we face challenges especially for a first-time writer to show his/her work to the public.

I remember the first challenge that I encountered when I was still a newbie, it was the fear of opening up my thoughts in public.
I think a writer is a certified introvert and they are anti-social,
and always have the fear that their work will be exposed to the public.

That is why we often use pen name/pseudonyms.

But thanked God and thanked WDC that I overcame my fears.

Here are some of the challenges that I encountered, when I was still new to writing until I found my writing genre in romance and spirituality.

*Tackb* 1. Fear of exposing your thoughts.
- sometimes this is the biggest problem, exposing our thoughts and making them become real by pouring them into words.
Mostly writers have a divided thought in the real world and in their world of muses.

*Tackb*2. Fear of feedback/review.
- this is also a big problem, feedback and the review of others, which answer the thought that what if they don't like the thought that I poured out?
So we should often use the constructive review technique to encourage a newbie.

*Tackb*3. Comparing yourself to others.
It took me to be one year before I convinced myself to create, write, and experience the self-publishing of an ebook because I compare myself to others.
I thought first about my flaws and saw others were better than me, I am setting myself to compete with others but in fact, there was no competition.
Writing is a work of art and has its own style and is unique in expressing and being creative in word, thanked God that my passion surpasses all this fear.

*Tackb*4. Fear of satisfying the needs of your reader.
-Or expectation, when we set high expectations for ourselves to our readers then we may always have the discouragement and fear to write.

*Tackb*5. Fear of rejection.
The biggest fear, having a thought what if they wouldn't like my write-ups?
Thanks to WDC there are no rejections here, you can write whatever you like as long as it is for everybody.

From lack of experience and confidence to finding a publishing deal, editing and revising, marketing and promotion, financial considerations, handling negative feedback, building a readership, and managing time, new authors face various obstacles on their journey.

Challenges may mostly come to be discouragement and they are tricky and may sometimes bring us down, but humans originally were born a champion because of the way we were created.
It will only depend on us, our free will
if we accept the challenge to really bring as down or will bring out our best.

Write On! *Heart*

Ask & Answer

Our Question for this week Newsletter:
What challenges do you encounter as a Romance Author?

Our Question from Newsletter "Romance/Love Newsletter (October 11, 2023)Open in new Window.
What motivates you to do something?

... given your enthusiasm, and your topic, concerning the "motivation to write", i will humbly share a somewhat recent (maybe only 1 or 2 years) piece, i hope you find relevant, and/or (perhaps) enjoyable.... i had always said (quoting Mae Sarton), when asked how she could maintain her (focused) daily regimen (of writing from 7AM til noon, and from 1PM til 5PM, every day), she responded that she "wrote (simply) because if she didn't, you would die"; and now i kinda find her statement a little too dramatic to use as my own 'excuse' for writing (not out of disagreement with her statement, which i understand & see the honest beauty-of), no, i think now i would answer, "why i write?" by saying i write because when i see something (or hear something,or just think about something) in a way i haven't before, and because i wonder (and would like to know) if what i express resonates with any other human, And (as with 'gifts' We each are given, to Not Use them, to not share them knowing, (hoping) that they may, in some way, mean something to (at least) one other unit, is a job requirement for the position...
