About This Newsletter

"The rainbow is a symbol to many people. To some it might be the bridge between heaven and earth, the dawn of a new awakening, a sign of good luck, a path for our guides to send messages and a sign a loved one has passed over."
Gloria Ku’uleialoha Coppola, Both Ends of the Rainbow

"There will come a day when people of all races, colors, and creeds will put aside their differences. They will come together in love, joining hands in unification, to heal the Earth and all Her children. They will move over the Earth like a great Whirling Rainbow, bringing peace, understanding and healing everywhere they go. Many creatures thought to be extinct or mythical will resurface at this time; the great trees that perished will return almost overnight. All living things will flourish, drawing sustenance from the breast of our Mother, the Earth."
Navajo-Hopi Prophecy

"12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth."
Genesis 9:12-13, English Standard Version

"When the Earth is sick, the animals will begin to disappear, when that happens, The Warriors of the Rainbow will come to save them."
Chief Seattle

Letter from the editor

Scientifically, a rainbow is an optical phenomenon caused by sunlight interacting with atmospheric conditions. That is, when sunlight passes through water droplets in the air the light is split into the color spectrum and a rainbow appears. Knowing how nature produces a rainbow does not make it any less beautiful or awe-inspiring.

The rainbow is, also, an ancient symbol that crosses both cultural and religious barriers. To some, it represents God's ancient covenant with humanity. To others, it is the bridge our spirits cross when our bodies die. To the indigenous peoples of America, it is part of a prophecy foretelling the healing of the planet through the unity of all the races.

Each of us, on an individual level, has a different view of what the rainbow symbolizes. Some of us may see it as a purely scientifically explained natural phenomenon. While others see it as a religious or cultural symbol representing some aspect of unity. As writers, we can use our opinions of what the rainbow means in the stories and poems we write.

For me, on a personal level, the rainbow symbolizes God's ancient covenant that unites all religions. I also see it as a symbol that unites the various skin tones of humanity into a single species. What does the rainbow symbolize to you?

Have any of you written stories using the rainbow or one of its symbols? Do any of you have stories, poems, or essays about rainbows? If so, please submit them to this newsletter. In addition, please let me know what the rainbow means to you either scientifically, religiously, or personally.

Ask & Answer

Joseph Author Icon writes: Thank you, This newsletter has inspired me. It seems sad that one would have to go into deep thought trying to figure out what gives me joy. Yet that is where I am. Much Thanks

Quick-Quill Author Icon writes: This is a subject that can cause problems. There are questions and then there are QUESTIONS. The intent of the questioner is what is important. Is it for our edification, our wisdom or to be contentious?
Don't question me! How often have we heard that from our parents? When we become of age, we realize the question is either cemented in our life or now has a new set of rules and must be reevaluated.
We don't question God. His ways are above our and are perfect.
Using the Bible as the plumb bob, how is your question answered there?
Evaluate your attitude when you pose the question. Check your tone.
Great NL It had me thinking and that's a good thing. I hope I didn't bother you.
