Well, we've made it to the end of 2022. Time to celebrate everything that we've accomplished this year, understand the things we didn't quite get done and prepare for yet another year in the 2020's. Hopefully it will be an even better year than the last couple. While I like to plan almost every other month when it comes to writing (can rarely get every single month planned in a given year), the very end of one year along with the beginning of the next is the perfect time to do a little planning.
What can you plan for 2023?
I'm glad I pretended you asked that question. Kidding, sort of. Honestly, there is a lot you can plan when it comes to writing for a new year or during any time of the near. In particular for the next few months there are some things here on WDC that may help.

Here is a good example of an option because the challenge is done in a series of steps that are divided between three months. The goal is to plan something, write it then spend some time editing. There are going to be more than one attempt, so if you can't make January-February-March, you can consider setting it on your schedule/calendar for April to try the next set. While I'm not the best outliner or planner with stories, it can be helpful so this is going to be a great challenge.
If you are looking more for shorter items to write, contest promotion and a reason to do some reviews here on the site, this challenge is a great choice. I Write is always fun because it combines contest promotions (most rounds have to enter items into contests here on WDC) with a review requirement to get people interacting with each other. This will help give that oomph you need to enter a contest and get a story or poem done before the contests deadline as you write something every week during the allotted challenge timeline.
Finally, if you just need a little encouragement or if planning many months or half a year is too much, then the site has a great option that you can do any week that you want. Check on the Weekly goals forum. There you can post your goals or plans for a single week, then at the end of the week just remember to go back and report how you did on them. Easy as pie.
Several ways exist for you to plan out what to start writing in the new year. As for plots, characters, conflicts and other story elements... Well, that is up to you.

Are you ready to write in 2023? Do you have any plans or goals for the year?
Last time that I wrote for this newsletter, in September, I discussed hitting brick walls. Here are a couple comments sent over the topic:

I read all my other stories and either spend time typing up hand-written ones or editing typed ones. I find that if I completely ignore the one I want to work on, focusing on the others for a while, tends to unstick it (and me). But, if I'm not doing any sort of writing/editing, I'll usually be cross-stitching - it's great for taking the mind far away from writing problems!

I have a weird brain. My head is full of ideas. I either have a vague premise or just a title and the typing flows. My main inner voice is influenced by the Bible and spiritual rundowns that manifest my scheme of composition. God bless Dawn!
