About This Newsletter

*Holly1*Happy Holiday season everyone! Don't you think food and comedy are natural buddies? We have all had good laughs or small smiles around eating and drinking even if it is the mess that a baby can make when she refuses to swallow the food! Messy, frustrating and yet funny too. *Bigsmile*

What is an omnivore's favourite food? Zoo chini

Visibly upset from the whole ordeal, the grape juice started to whine. *Wink*

I use to work at the sugar packaging factory. Then my position was dissolved!

Ever heard of:
To Grill a Mockingbired? Moby Duck?
The World According to Carp? Lady Chatterly's Liver? *Laugh*

*Delight*Humorous anecdotes, parodies, jokes, pranks, practical jokes, puns around food, eating habits, food values, ideologies abound in movies, comedy shows, cartoons, and even our own life experiences. So let's share a few laughs and keep it light as we prepare to Celebrate during this rather odd time.

It was some time in the summer, I recall, when all of us piled in the car and went to Aunt Marilyn's and Uncle Denny's for supper. We arrived in good time and the bunch of us along with cousins had fun in whatever we were doing.... I just recall thinking how strange it was that their yappy dachshund was allowed in the kitchen while Marilyn was cooking, sniffing around as she opened the oven door even. My mom would have a fit.

Supper time came and that is when the adventure happened. Yep two mistakes and NOTHING to do with ME!
It was an odd dinner. Spaghetti on the one hand and french fries on the other. My mom had brought her homemade spaghetti and my aunt made fish and chips. We did have a crowd to feed.

We all sat down and nothing was amiss but for my little brother who would not sit on the chair that my dad had put a big phone book on, so that he could reach the table. Stubborn and he would not eat. My uncle figured out what was wrong and took away the book! *Laugh* Now, he was having spaghetti and saw the adults were adding a bit of hot pepper flakes on top. He wanted some so reached for the jar before anyone could stop him and shook it over his plate. Mom warned about not too much, but.... oh well.

You should have seen his face and heard him when he had a bite! Ouch! It was funny after and I am not sure what he learned but the rest of us took note. Don't shake the hot peppers more that a little. *Smile*

Now the other crazy thing, and how this mistake ever occurred, I can't imagine. Maybe the dog was a distraction.
We were putting vinegar on our fries and my uncle noticed there were bubbles in the flask. The fries tasted funny to him. My mom smelled the jar and put some on her hands. It was dish soap!*Shock* My aunt was horrified and could not imagine how she could have mixed up soap for vinegar. She had grabbed the wrong glass jar on the counter or something. I always recall she was a little spacey. LOL We all had a great laugh and my uncle put in an order from the chip place!

*Santahat* One Christmas at my sister's dinner, we were opening table gifts. The turkey had been cut and the plate was on the kitchen island still. No one was watching the huge half husky dog my nephew had brought with him. While he is a good dog, what animal in his right DNA would have resisted jumping up (not very high for him) and eating half the plate of turkey? I got up to put wrappings in the garbage and saw the dog. I warned my brother- in- law. He grabbed the rest of the plate and admonished the dog. ...outside he went. Banished for his crime. I just laughed and felt for the dog. I mean..it was human error! We always put the food on our table before we sit to eat. LOL I guess the crowd was not used to having a dog that size in the house. What is it about dogs in the kitchen? Must be a lesson there somewhere.*Think*

I had heard stories about this sort of thing but it was a first to see it! Anyway, the dog was fine and treated to the ham bone in the end. That was not a mistake. One Happy Husky! Two meals. *Laugh*

*Questionr* What are your favourite comic food and drink moments?

I know lots of us can relate to this bit of fun:

Why is there no such organization as Chocolate Aholics? *Dchoco*

Because noone wants to quit eating Chocolate! *Heart**Laugh*

Have a peaceful and fun filled Holiday season. Keep finding the laughter.

"Thank you for highlighting one of my favourite poets, Mona. Even just reading your NL, I can hear her reciting "Oh, I Wish I'd Looked After Me Teeth."

Pam Ayres really is a legend in her own lifetime."

"Pam Ayres has been a British institution for decades. Thanks to her exposure on television, it is impossible to read her poems without hearing the wonderful accent and skill with which she delivers them in public. She is, as they would say in the old westerns, a wonderment!"

Santeven Quokklaus Author Icon

"So good to hear Pan again. In Australia, we saw her on TV a bit and both my grandmothers had books by her. She is great, telling tales of reality in comedic form. To be honest, considering the crassness of most US humour (like the way they killed The Office) I never thought she'd translate well in the States. I stand to be corrected. (Not about The Office - Ricky Gervais is a master.)"
