Letter from the editor

"Happy Innergize Day! *Rolleyes*

*Smile* Yes, it is a day, September 23 that follows the Autumn Equinox! So relax! And you can enjoy a meat Snack stick too as it is National Stick Snack Day! *Laugh* Jerky time!

And time for laughs. I recently found this comical youtube of Pam Ayres and had to discover more as I laughed so hard at her entertaining poems based on real life, the joys and irritations.

*Laugh* Pam Ayres was born in Sandford on the Vale, Berkshire, England, on 14 March 1947. She is an English poet, comedian, songwriter and presenter of radio and television programmes. She is famous for her comic verse spoken in her unique Berkshire rural accent. She writes in a simple style with keen observations about everyday subject matter and common experiences. Topics like weight gain, snoring partners, know-it-alls, ageing, and anything that takes her fancy become part of her rhyming poetry! She says" "I think, 'If this is affecting me, it probably affects everyone else'," and so she is always looking for good ideas from everywhere.
Her funny lament Oh, I Wish I'd Looked After Me Teeth is one of her best-known pieces and was on the top 10 of Britain's Favourite Comic Poems.

Bob Dylan inspired her to write poems. She left school at 15, was a clerical assistant and then joined the Woman's Royal Air force where she took English and English literature and began her career as an entertainer. In 1974 she was invited to read her poems on the BBC Radio stations and went on to become nationally known as the People's poet. She has won lots of awards and travelled the world. In 2004, she received the MBE for services in entertainment and literature.

Ayres is married to theatre producer Dudley Russell, and they have two sons, William and James. She lives in Cotswold England and lives a healthy lifestyle, relaxes with gardening and her passionate cause is animal welfare. AT 72, she still performs and adores making people laugh. She memorizes her work so she can look out and engage with the audiences and says she will keep going until her memory fails!

Enjoy listening to her distinct flair!
