New Normal

Like many around the world, I am currently in self-quarantine. I'm not able to work as my profession has been declared non-essential, so I'm stuck at home for at least a month. For me, quarantine has had several stages:

1. Grief. There was a brief period where I was upset and even angry that my life had to change so much, and I think that's pretty normal. Even if you're currently not sick and if no one you know is affected, you're allowed to be upset about things that have changed and things you might miss.

2. New Normal. After the grief period, it's time to plan a new normal. I think it's good to come up with a new routine to keep your sanity along with your family members. Some involve homeschooling children, while others involve working during a dangerous time, perhaps taking extra precautions when venturing out.

3. Being Productive. I've found a way to complete at least some of my work from home, so I'm not completely out of work. I've also started a gaming project with friends where we meet online, and I'm working on some WDC goals that I'd like to complete while I have the time!

The important thing isn't necessarily to "keep busy," but to stay productive.

That's where the internet comes in, and in particular, WDC! If you're not working from home, try setting a goal for reviewing members' items, hosting a group, forum, activity, or contest. It's the perfect time, isn't it? If you have more downtime, and so do others, we're all looking for productive ways to spend our time!

Also, be open to journaling/blogging about your experience. It can help you to get through it mentally, and it can help others. We have a huge blogging community at WDC! Try reaching out and connecting!

Be there for one another, as this isn't easy for everyone. Practice compassion along with your social distancing. Reach out to others with this amazing environment we have here. There are many, many places to connect with one another here at WDC! Please use those resources if you need them and have the time.

As always, keep on writing! *Quill*
