This poem is about the slave ship Clotilda, the last know slave ship to deliver African Slaves to the United States of America during the late 1850's and into the year 1860, when it was eventually destroyed. Bu that time, the importation of slaves from Africa had been illegal for several decades, but still survived via smuggling. Not too long after this ship was destroyed, the United States had its Civil War. Makes one think.

Thoughts
I actually had to look up this ship to get an understanding of its importance. Interesting.
