My favorite part was: "My grateful heart turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. My grateful heart can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend." That is exactly what a grateful heart can do! Good for you! Even though this was my favorite part, I enjoyed your whole essay. Well done, Naomi.

I appreciated your explanatory part at the bottom. It was interesting to learn what pastillas were and to learn about the happy baskets, which I had wanted to know more about after reading (and reviewing) your Happiness piece earlier this week.

I am not entirely sure what a documentary is in written form? I only know them as videos. But this felt more like an essay to me, so that's why I keep calling it an essay, if you're wondering.

I thought the biographical and personal genres you selected were appropriate for this personal, biographical essay of yours. If you wanted to add a third one you could consider things like experience, cultural, spiritual, inspirational, and religious. I always recommend selecting three genres as it can gain you more readers, and, as a bonus, if someone were to nominate your piece for a quill award, you'd have three genres to be considered for, instead of just two.

As with any review, please take what serves you and release or ignore what doesn't.
