Greetings, Brian!

Glad you got to keep your name *Wink*

You have such a way of letting your feelings flow in poetic form. I admire the way you write freely, vulnerably and confidently, without fear of judgment or people saying “this isn’t really a poem because…” As an author, I tend to fret a lot about how my work is seen: is this too “emo?” Is this silly? Am I wasting my time? Why am I doing this anyway? Particularly as I forced myself to write seven prompted stories in seven days for the Writer’s Cramp birthday special… I actually told myself I’d probably toss out some of them afterwards because they felt so “contrived” and “uninspired.” I was surprised to actually win two of the days… *Delight*

Anyway… this is good poetry, utilizing nature imagery to convey the emotions of love, loss and confusion. The loosely connected lines flow smoothly from thought to thought, and repetition is well employed to create a sense of bewilderment amid what must be a lovely evening if not for the lingering heartbreak. Life goes on, sometimes unfairly, and we wonder why everything is “as it should be” when we’re suffering so deeply. And yet, if the moon quit glowing for every person who lost a loved one, the world would be a dark place indeed.

As a poem, I have nothing to suggest here, being merely a casual amateur poet who writes from the heart without thoughts of form or meter most of the time.

Take care, thanks for sharing, and keep writing *HeartT*
