Colors [E] Do you see me in black and white? |
Greetings, Amethyst Angel 🍁🙏! I am reviewing this today as a judge for the June round of "Writing 4 Kids Contest " . First of all, my reviews are intended to be helpful and encouraging, not hurtful in any way. Use what you feel works for you, and leave the rest. Followed the prompt & rules First Impression: This was an absolute pleasure to read! I became completely caught up in it from the very beginning... The first day of school loomed large as a thundercloud for six-year-old Kayla. Your visuals are amazing. And your action verbs were superb. Thank you for the font size, too. It feels more like a kid's story with the bigger font. Reading a children's story with tiny font just takes away from the fun, magical, adventuresome feel, at least for me. I've always been fascinated with imaginary friends. My younger brother had one, and so did my youngest daughter. Hmm...I wonder if it had anything to do with being the youngest child? You tied this up neatly in the end. Having Kayla's teacher assign the class to write a composition about someone who was not part of the class and compare him/her with a color, was spectacular. I loved what Kayla finally came up with. And when Mrs. Harris shared that she, too, has an imaginary friend, I felt that was the perfect ending. Favorites: There was a long silence when Kayla finished reading. Then Mrs. Harris and all the kids began clapping. This made be smile! Final thoughts: The song link you provided at the end was certainly a nice bonus! And providing the lyrics was awesome. You've put in some extra time in doing this, and it's a nice addition to your entry. Thank you for entering and best of luck in the contest!
