*PenB* First Impressions:

That was not what I had expected! The way you set the scene, everything pointed to the birds being evil creatures who wanted to gain entry to the house to attack Ken, or something along those lines. You used the weather to create a tense atmosphere, and when the birds started knocking, it only added to the feeling of unease that both Ken and the readers were feeling at that point. It didn’t help that Ken didn’t like them to begin with, even before they started to act peculiarly, so obviously nothing good could come from their strange behaviour. It was a nice twist that they actually had a completely different goal.

Simba the cat didn’t cover herself in glory, but I suppose that worked out well in the end. Had she gone outside to chase the birds, the tale might not have ended the way it did. I had to laugh at the line, Ken toyed with the idea of tossing the plump, orange tiger onto the porch, but images of the resulting mess made him shy away from the thought. It made me think of my cat and finding the lawn full of feathers on occasion, so I knew exactly what you were talking about! I thought the descriptions of the cat, the way she moved and how she reacted to the birds was really well done and made it easy for the readers to imagine the scene.

*PenG* Suggestions:

I didn’t notice any errors and I don’t have any suggestions, so I’m going to use this section to talk about something that I thought worked very well in this story. I could relate to Ken’s reaction to the birds on the porch, having a few anxiety issues of my own, and I recognised his behaviour, from his refusal to deal with the issue and the resulting guild about leaving it to someone else, to the way he didn’t want to look at them but still needed to check where they were. I was glad that, once he understood what they had been doing, he was able to overcome his fear and help them.

*PenP* Final Thoughts:

This isn’t a new story but I wonder if you remember what inspired it. If it was written for a contest, it would be great to know what the prompt was. I thought it was a very creative and original story, and I enjoyed the read *Smile*
