Happy Writing.Com Anniversary month! I saw this poem featured in my news feed and decided to read it. I loved it so decided to give you a review. I hope you enjoy this review as a celebration of your time here and find the review uplifting.

You engaged my senses and emotions as I read this imaginative poem of yours. I was glad to notice that it won the Writer's Cramp contest today. Congratulations!

I liked that you explored several different options and took us through your fanciful and fun and lovely reasoning for each.

I wondered if the bird in the first stanza was an American goldfinch? We have those here. I think they're beautiful. I actually posted a photo of one from my yard on twitter/ x.com earlier today. I purposefully don't deadhead the flowers they love to feast on so they have plenty of seeds. And I plant some of those flowers by my windows so I can see the little beauties up close.

I had never heard the term "frigate bird" before, but it's perfect. I always wondered how those birds survived. You solved a mystery for me there. Thank you.

You reminded me what a marvel hummingbirds are. I love them even more than the golden finches, though see them less often.

I loved and enjoyed your whole poem and felt like I was with you, imagining life as these amazing birds.

My favorite part was the ending, specifically the last line. What a lovely way to close up the poem.

I didn't notice any spelling or grammatical mistakes (or mistakes of any kind) in your beautiful bird poem.

I thought the animal and travel genres you selected were perfect for this beautiful bird poem of yours.


IDEAS TO MAKE YOUR PIECE STRONGER:
In the spirit of helpfulness (and because of the rules of a review challenge I'm in), I have a couple suggestions to make your piece stronger. I'm having to dig deep for these as I really thought your piece was well done as it is though. Neither are about your actual poem, but more about getting more readers for it. So if you want to skip this part, no worries at all! Just move on to the next section and know that I truly enjoyed your poem.


The first thing is to add a thumbnail picture, if your membership level allows that. It could net you more readers and make people who see the title more likely to click and read. Photos are really attention getters.

The second thing would be to add a third genre. We're allowed three and having one more could also help you get more readers. Some people search by genre to find things to read here. Perhaps you could choose "fantasy" or "animal" or some other one that fits with your lovely poem. As the host of a review challenge I once entered says (I think it was Jody Schnujo but am not 100% sure): "Genres help people find items to read/review and can increase your odds of being included in a Newsletter (because your item was spotted by a [Moderator] looking for genre items) or even increase your odds of winning "The Quills" (because it can be entered into multiple genre categories for additional chances to win)." The Quill Awards are a big deal here, as you surely know. It's a great honor to be nominated, I think, and your odds increase with more people viewing and liking your poem.
