Rain [E] Contest Entry for OVI Poetry Contest |
HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews" Greetings, Nani - Blessed Indeed! I am reviewing this because 1) It's your anniversary month here at WdC (15 years!!!) and 2) I'm sort of picky about what I choose to review, but I immediately liked this piece and decided to go with it. First of all, my reviews are intended to be helpful and encouraging, not hurtful in any way. Use what you feel works for you, and leave the rest. The Positives/What I Liked I'm always appreciative to the writer for explaining a new form of poetry, and this is no exception--> Ovi (ovee): an ancient Indian form of narrative poetry consisting of four-line stanzas with the first three lines rhyming and having eight syllables each. The fourth line does not rhyme and contains less than eight syllables. You even included the pronunciation. Good imagery--> Clouds angry and black rolling in, along with the sense of sound!--> pitter and patter and clatter and Silencing all else. Great rhythm and rhyme! Looks like you followed the guidelines precisely. Suggestions/Comments to Consider Now that the contest is over, you might consider replacing Contest Entry with another genre, such as Nature and/or Environment and perhaps a 3rd genre of your choice. Just a thought! Final Thoughts I'm so excited I discovered this piece. I not only love the poem, but the poetry form. I plan to experiment with it, myself, thanks to you! Thank you for sharing! I hope you did well in the contest (it would not surprise me. ) Have a great day and... K e e p on W r i t i n g ! Cubby ")
