Boys Will Be Boys [E] Be careful about what you say around me. |
Greetings, Polter-JACE! I am reviewing this because I need to add one more purple case review to the Army Angel June Challenge. And after reading this piece, I'm so thrilled I chose it! First of all, my reviews are intended to be helpful and encouraging, not hurtful in any way. Use what you feel works for you, and leave the rest. The Positives/What I Liked This was such a refreshing piece to read! I thoroughly enjoyed this little story from your past. I could picture you as a young lad, thinking you were doing Ms. Clara a huge favor by pulling up all her flowers, as she'd confesses..."I wish I'd never planted them," What a helpful little boy you were! This would make a great scene in a movie, lol. Maybe even on the old Leave It to Beaver show. And all this happened on your fifth birthday. I'm so relieved Ms. Clara and your mom were able to have a good laugh at the end. I was born in Del Rio, Texas where my dad was stationed in the Air Force in 1956, not too far from where you were. I remember him talking about San Antonio. He hated the wind down there though. He got out when I was four months old and we moved back to Michigan. This was so well-written! Paragraph 9 was one of my favorites: She screamed out my full name--nothing short of the sentence of death--bringing Ms. Clara out of her house. My friends and I were frozen to the ground. A broken beehive wouldn't have tempted us to move. Congratulations on earning your first dollar! Suggestions/Comments to Consider I have no suggestions. Final Thoughts What a joy this was to read! It was just so refreshing. Thank you for sharing this memory. Have a great day and... K e e p on W r i t i n g ! Cubby ")
