The Rocket's Red Glare [E] A Veteran still feels "it" when the National Anthem is played. |
My reviews are intended to be helpful and encouraging, not hurtful in any way. Use what you feel works for you, and leave the rest. I discovered this lovely piece on the Newsfeed. Thank you for posting this treasure! First Impression Wow. This really got to me. Really made me wonder. And now, when I look around in a crowd, my eyes will catch onto a person or two, or more, and I'll wonder Is that man with the long, gray braid, a veteran? or the woman who stands extra tall during the Pledge of Allegiance before an event...Did she serve in the military? This is a fantastic piece, Steph. It brought tears to my eyes. I was raised to be patriotic and while I never personally served, my daughter, my niece, my husband, my uncle, my father, grandfather, great-grandfather and so on did. It doesn't take much for me to get emotional when it comes to veterans...their bravery, the courage, the honor and respect they deserve. When I was a little girl and all the cousins were together for the holiday at my grandmother's house, us kids would be in what we called the music room, because it had an old piano and a console record player. My grandma, who was also very patriotic, would play patriotic records while me and my cousins marched in a big circle, on the big braided rug. I have a lot of cousins, so that must've been quite a sight! Thoughts/Suggestions This is one of those pieces that's truly special. My only suggestion is that you send it in somewhere, or enter it in a contest, if you haven't already. Favorites I blend in the crowd, hidden, a Veteran. Ugh. The tears are streaming down my cheeks. Thank you for sharing this, Steph. It's beautiful. By the way, have you ever watched Saving Chance with Kevin Bacon in it? It's based on a true story. It's a movie everyone should watch. Take care...and have an awesome day. Have a great day and... K e e p on W r i t i n g ! Cubby ")
