Hello Arakun the twisted raccoon Author Icon

First impression:

This daily contest will be 20 years old on October 10, 2024. I hope this will be made into A BIG DEAL. It's always worth celebrating things that go on for 20 years, especially on the internet.

What works:

Honestly, the whole page works! The font size and color make it very easy to read everything. The rules are listed in a logical cascading order from the basics all the way to the most important rule: Have fun!

I totally agree that only the winner gets a review.

What needs work:

It would be nice if those who did not win on that day can at least get a "Like" on their submission post as a marker that their story was seen by you, or by the judge of the day.

At the bottom, there is a list of three contests & activities. One is yours, the second one is the Contest Challenge, and the third is the annual Masquerade Party. This one only lasts a few weeks in September and is then closed. Or at least it's no longer active. It might be an idea to save this valuable advertisement space for something currently ongoing. Since The Daily Flash Fiction Contest is (well) daily, it makes sense to update that area to make sure it's relevant to the month when it's listed.

Final thoughts:

I have entered this contest in the past and I will keep coming back. Sometimes, it's relaxing to force myself to write just a short little story. It gets my ideas for longer pieces going.

Even with the two suggestions I made, this contest is clearly a five stary item.
