A Martell Image

*Exclaim* Hi Krista! I was attracted to this item, not only because it was highlighted at the top of your portfolio, but because it had a pretty, stained glass type image next to the brief introduction. The unique Quill ribbon also complemented your item very well.

Congratulations for winning with this poem at the Quills! That's very exciting!

At first glance, the presentation puts this poem head and shoulders above the rest. You said in your brief introduction that your readers will enjoy a 'hypnotic flame', and I think you succeeded in doing that. The oranges, yellows, and reds in the font made me think of a pretty sunset.

I thought your first line set the scene for what your readers could expect in the rest of this delicate poem. I could imagine a candle flickering in the dark of night.

The other lines of your poem seemed like true poetry, as you chose words to 'hypnotize' your readers with descriptions of the gentle flame.

My favorite line was where you wrote about the whisper of a fading light. I thought that was a very creative way to describe the hint of a light in the night. I could imagine that this candle cast just the right amount of light in order to see dimly in the darkness.

I liked that you talked about the retreating light, and you chose yellow font for those lines. It made me think that the night was ending and the day might have been beginning. The ending seemed very pretty to me. You took your readers back to the beginning, where you once again mentioned the candlelight. Nice work.
