Hi Hyperiongate Author Icon.

I'm JACE Author Icon, and I have the honor of reading and reviewing your offering "How To Write Good Flash FictionOpen in new Window..

I invite your attention to the comments below. Please bear in mind these notes are from one on the outside looking in; ultimately only you can decide what's right for your story.

*Note1*  Overall Impression. I took the opportunity to check out your Port before I settled on this offering. From your Biography page I see we have some similar interests, including your listed Interest, Favorite Music and Fave Movies. It seems some of your stated biographical information is from some years back. Hopefully we continue to see lots from you here.

That said, I selected this particular essay because I have a hard time writing Flash Fiction. While I've had some success on WDC with a couple tales, I really have to work harder than for my stories 1000 words and larger. I thought you might offer some tips I might use.

You didn't disappoint. Of particular import to me were paragraph Nos. 9, 2, 7 and 10 (in that order). That's not to say the others weren't helpful. But these paragraphs really helped me put my thoughts into perspective for the limited word entries.

I really have trouble with not editing as I go, whether for a Flash Fiction entry or a much longer story. I know I should get my thoughts on paper first, as it were. This is especially true because I often know what I want to say in my head, but I type much slower than I think. Thus, my best thoughts may not make that final write. How often does that happen to any writer?

I actually use implying certain things when I review someone work. As a reader, I don't always like being led by the nose. Let me use my imagination. As for grammar--that's something I have less trouble than most.

All in all, you've penned a great essay on this subject. I enjoyed reading it, and look forward to using some of your techniques in the near future. You've laid out your topics in a thoughtful manner, even listing your topics in bold for easy reading.

*Exclaim*  Technical and Editorial Considerations. I normally list those areas that relate specifically to the mechanics of your writing here--punctuation, grammar, spelling, etc.

*Bullet* I think it was no surprise that I found nothing to cite in this section. More than 50 reviews averaging five stars would certainly leave nothing for me to mention.

My Rating.  5.0.  Great essay; very informative.
