Ah, yes, good ol' Heisenberg and the Uncertainty Principle (aka the Butterfly Effect). Heaven only knows what all has been changed by Professor Jenkins' tinkering. We know he started out with a cat, but ended up with a dog, so he was obviously as affected by the timeline changes as everyone else. One has to wonder, if the cat's original name was Schrödinger, or even if his 'original' pet was even a cat.
