Review of Voyage into Nowhere by Tegs ![]() Now this is a bit of lighthearted fun. I should have guessed from the carefree tone you were setting that the story was not too seriously intended, but the ending still caught me out. Well done. It's really quite a delightful little piece, with amusing characters caught in a world where almost anything can happen. The lack of panic in the couple on finding themselves transported to another world is quite disarming. And it's all told in a delightfully light and error-free style that carries us on to the finish. What a finish it is too, with the Professor vindicated, his two errant students put firmly in their place and the world returned to rights. You taught me something I hadn't realised before. When writing science fiction, it's not necessary to go into details of how exactly the miracle machines of the future will work. Just a vague idea of unknown forces and clever construction to guide the thing and the reader will go with it. Because he wants it to work, of course. If it doesn't, there's no story to be told and he has to look elsewhere for escape. The reader is always on the side of the inventor. And for inventor, you could say writer as well. That is what your Professor's marvellous machine taught me. And I'm very grateful, both for the insight and the most enjoyable read. More power to your writing implement, I say!
