This is a series of Fantasy with the medieval setting. This is indeed something different thinking. I must appreciate that effort.
Overall, it is a good fantasy short story. I must admire the beginning. You started well. A struggle between peace and unrest is always going on. The powers that create violence may win temporarily but ultimately they will be defeated. That clear message is the prime strength of the story.
Only two characters are there. They move towards the end.

Despite those good qualities, it is a bit descriptive which hampers the pace of the story in some pockets.
Just be careful about this problem, this is my humble suggestion.
