Beneath The boughs of winter's trees [E] Thinking about Mom |
Hi, I am Jaya reviewing this appealing rhyming verse. The title- It pulled me into reading and then reviewing this poem of reminiscence. Content- Memories of mother invading the son’s mind are vividly brought to the reader via the images of winter snow and its vocal silence. Feeling the “root so strong and solid” under the thick layer of snow suggests the sustaining bond that exists between the son and his mother that “passed so long ago”. I have similar sentiments about my mom who parted from us recently. Needless to say that it’s a shock that continues. I realise a mother wields immense influence over her children long after her demise. A significant line- “ a star peeks through my wooden roof…in answer” To me, it looks as though in the wink of the star, he and many others like him are reminded of their happy days of childhood mostly made by mother. In conclusion- By penning the portrait of a mother in a deceptively simple and a clearly visible poem, you made me strongly aware of my own dear mom. Thank you for a touching poem. It flows well right into my heart. Write on! My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
