An instant drawn out by words describing this instant in a story. It's like slow motion. I could imagine the thoughts going slowly yet in an instant. Time has a way of slowing down during a crisis and yet for those on the outside witnessing this event, they fly by. I could imagine a gruesome scene as someone thought just before giving up their spirit.
