Greetings hullabaloo22 Author Icon!

What brought Hoovsie meandering in a space time continuum over to your port?

*Cow*I am reviewing your Dear Me letter as one of the judges for "Dear Me: Official WDC ContestOpen in new Window..

Thanks for entering!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

I thought about the things that keep us from doing what we want. I can definitely relate to that and to starting small. It is good to review past years a bit, but not beat yourself up about whatever happened in the past. You emphasize that is internal things that have prevented you from achieving whatever in the past. I think that is very true for all of us.

It seems to me that successful writers always have a story about being discouraged at some point and picking it up from there. It's the picking it up and carrying on that defines and gives the success a story or turns it into a movie.

*Cool**Idea*

My criteria for judging Dear Me letters is about what I find memorable and interesting. It may not agree with anyone else's judgment. I also enjoy a sense of humor or something that touches me personally. Your remarks about reviewing definitely struck a chord.

That is to give you an idea of where I'm coming from in the whole judging realm.

No expert on keeping my own New Year's Resolutions, I didn't even try to think of any this year. So, I'm also looking to be inspired with my own plans for the year. If I do one positive thing a day, I am giving myself a positive reinforcement reward. So far into the year, it's not working that well, but whatever. I am no good at it is what I am trying to convey.

I admire you for all the thought and effort you put into this and into thinking about things you want to learn and collaborate on with others.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I particularly was struck by this part:

"Most people just like to know that their writing has been read and enjoyed - you should know that by now."

I have been guilty of thinking that I don't have anything that anyone would want to hear so why bother. Then I force myself to do some things like reviewing for contests and I remember how I feel. I feel like yay, I didn't win, but someone read it and thought about it. You are right in that most people just want to know someone read and understood.

I have had reviews that said "good work" at the right time and little else. That might have made the difference between me logging in again at the time over the course of many years.

Also, I am admiring your goal of two a day. That seems doable to me.

Well done!

P.S. My reviews are not meant to be harsh edits or critiques. They are my reactions to what I have read and involve sharing my thoughts and feelings. That is how I approach most of the reviews I write now. We are then asked to pick our favorites and that is what I try to do.
