Quite the chilling story. Good job describing the characters and atmosphere. I got a good sense of the events leading the Detective to snap. You did a great job of depicting what was in the Detective's head and leaving it to the reader to determine whether what is happening is in the character's mind or not. It also a really twisted outcome making for an intense short story.

You might want to check out the video game Heavy Rain. Characters in the video game have the potential to go through similar psychotic breaks and there's a nice dark atmosphere in the game as well.
